SSD 3.5 "1TB of RunCore, 500MB / s fast


Looking for 1TB of space? What I would say then that amount of bytes in an SSD with SATA III connection?

The RunCore is launching a new 3.5-inch disk with one terabyte of space to store files, providing you all the speed and security of Solid State Disk technology. And speaking of speed, with this disc you will have a speed of 500 MB/s.

Memoright Has Launched SSD with Capacities Up to 400GB


Now I can have quieter laptop with much more storage capacity. Or maybe not yet, as the price of this kind of SSD is still high.

Memoright has launched a new 2.5-inch SSD series, the FTM-25, available in capacities of 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 400GB. The new drive is targeted at enterprise, workstation and high-end PC applications.

The Memoright FTM-25 SSD exceeds a read speed of 280MB/s and a write speed of 270MB/s in IOMeter Benchmark tests, and reaches 50,000 IOPS.

In addition, the FTM-25 series is equipped with OVP (over-voltage protection), OCP (over-current protection) and completely supports 128-bit AES (advanced encryption standard) encryption to meet low power consumption, security and reliability requirements, the company said.

G-Drive Slim - World's Thinnest Hard Drive

 
Hitachi's today unveiled what what they believe the world's thinnest external hard drive, the G-Drive Slim. The portable storage uses the already very thin Travelstar Z5K320 320GB drive to make an enclosure that's just 9.9mm (0.39in) tall and weighs just five ounces, making it easier to carry than most alternatives. G-Technology conceives of it as an ideal companion drive for a MacBook Air and gives it an aluminum shell that fits in with the look of most Macs.

Just the one capacity is available for the Slim, which costs $100. Sales start today both online and at Apple's retail stores.

Next-Gen Chip Could Make Memory 10,000 Times Faster

Elpida Memory and Sharp, have co-developed a next-generation memory chip that could commercialized as early as 2013.

This chip that they call Resistive random access memory chips, or ReRAM, consume far less power than conventional NAND flash memory and are capable of writing data 10,000 times faster.

According to a report in The Nikkei business daily, a ReRAM chip incorporated device will be able to download high-definition movies literally in several seconds and cut power consumption to virtually zero when on standby mode.

EDGE Tech Serves Up USB 3.0-equipped DiskGO External HDDs


Edge Tech Corp. has finally adopted USB 3.0 and launched no less than four products that support the standard, two adapters (one PCIe, one ExpressCard) and two DiskGO hard drives - portable and external.

The portable DiskGO USB 3.0 drive measures 4.90" x 3.10" x 0.90", has a working speed of 5400 RPM, is bundled with the Dmailer Backup software and comes in 250GB ($84.95), 320GB ($89.95), 500GB ($104.95) and 750GB ($174.95) capacities.

The 500GB ($94.95), 1TB ($124.95), 1.5TB ($149.95) and 2TB ($199.95) external DiskGO SuperSpeed USB HDDs are 7.60 by 4.45 by 1.45 inches, works at 7200 RPM and also comes with the Dmailer Backup software. All DiskGO USB 3.0 drives are backed by a three-year warranty.

Lenovo F360 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Hard Drive

The USB 3.0 is getting integrated into more products. Now, Lenovo is introducing their first portable USB 3.0 hard drive, the F360.

This slim F360 USB hard drive is only 11 mm thick with a brushed metal surface treatment and unique etching process to give it a contemporary look.  It has no screw chassis. The F360 will be a 7200RPM drive and includes a new calibration chip [no info on which one] which guarantees data transfer efficiency, error correction and security to insure your data is always safe, yet accessible.

Iomega Makes Full Switch to USB 3.0

Iomega is implementing USB 3.0 technology integrated into all their products. Iomega says the change will not cost consumers a penny more in retail cost but will deliver faster transfer speeds.  USB 3.0 has a theoretical max of 5Gbps but according to guys at getusb.info it only shows 70MB/s as best performing drives at the moment.

Iomega continues their promise of better performance with not only speed performance, but now a “drop spec” of up to 7 feet before you can expect any kind of damage or malfunction with the device.

Iomega’s drives come in 500GB and 1TB size starting at just $119.
