Audi Introduces a Wireless Multi-device In-Car Charger

Audi at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas introduced the first OEM applications of wireless device charging for its vehicles which enable people to charge their smartphones in their Audi vehicles without connecting a charging cable, cord, or adapter.

The system was developed in collaboration with Electronics Research Lab, Qualcomm Incorporated, and Peiker and works similarly to the inductive charging mats that are already available on the market today. Users simply drop their smartphone onto the pad, which mounts in the center console and connects to the vehicle's power supply with a single cable, and the charging begins.

Audi claims that the system doesn't interfere with the operation of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi wireless connections.

World’s Lightest Bike Weighs Just Six Pounds!

This bike can be the lightest but it takes the heaviest pocket to buy it. This $45,000 racing bike designed by Fairwheel Bikes in Tuscon, Arizona weights 6 pounds. The professional racers use bikes of 15 pound, which is more than twice the weight of this new lightest bike!

Fairwheel’s bike, which was shown over the weekend at the Interbike Show, features front and rear brakes, a 10-speed rear gear, a two-gear chainset, and AX Lightness carbon fiber rims with titanium spokes. Maybe even the most avid cyclist would rather buy an entry-level luxury car and a regular bike.. Maybe we should think again: $45,000.

Apple Files Patent for Smart Bike

Apple so far has only produced electronic gadgets such as computers, tablet, mp3 players and smartphone. Recently Apple filed a patent application for futuristic bicycle as published by the US Patent & Trademark Office on August 5, 2010. This newly advance Smart Bicycle System is designed for both individual cycling as well as team. The system monitors speed, distance, time, altitude, elevation, incline, decline, heart rate, power, derailleur setting, cadence, wind speed, path completed, expected future path, power and pace.

The bike has a docking station on the handlebars where an iPad or iPhone slots in and connects up to the machinery and sensors to give real-time information to the rider on the screen. The sensors, the display and electronic device could communicate via communications network 150 – which covers GPRS, CDMA, EV-DO, EDGE, 3GSM, DECT, IS-136/TDMA, iDen, LTE and/or others.

I am just wondering how much it will cost, if I have one I will absolutely bring it inside the store every time I do my grocery shopping... I won't leave my Apple bike in the parking lot as I may lose the docking station or the sensors.

New Era of Commuting

Simple transportation is a necessity in urban life. Many people rely on subway or underground line and cars but for those who have green vision or simply want to save a few dollars a day rely on bike.

According to its vendor ads, If Mode Bike is a bike for a next generation of commuting. This good looking folding bike avoids oily chains, complex tubes with hidden dirt traps. It is foldable for storage  in a house, apartment, office or for carrying in a subway so it is really for city. It is available online for $2,325 for one bike. A bit  expensive isn't it? Well, if we calculate the price of gas for a couple of years plus car insurance maybe this bike is a good alternative.
