Secure Your Door With BioAXXIS BD1- XL Fingerprint Deadbolt

BioAXXIS BD1- XL Fingerprint Deadbolt, which is a combination key/fingerprint reader door lock allows you to store up to 30 different fingerprints, and has a class 3 deadbolt. This lock is great for most homes and businesses.

If required, you can plug up the key slot and make it only accessible with a fingerprint it recognizes and it does not attach to the outside of the door, it pokes through your door, and can handle down to -30F in the winter, and 150F in the winter. Maybe the only impractical thing is the fact that it operates on 4x AA batteries (if it consumes a lot of power).

Playstation phone may come soon. It is likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. Barnes & Noble Introduces Nook Color

Barnes & Noble introduce Android powered second-gen Nook. It has a 7-inch color LCD for displaying the content. Since Android is inside, it’s slightly more than an ebook reader and slightly less than a tablet. There are social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter, along with the ability to display videos as well as the standard ebook content.

The Nook Color has an array of apps including Pandora, games, access to Google and Wikipedia, a contact manager and more. There’s even a full-featured magazine reader that will probably be highly advertised. There’s no Android Marketplace.

As for the hardware, the Nook Color is void of any phyiscal buttons. Instead there’s a 1024×600 7-inch screen, laminated to reduce glare traditionally associated with LCDs. There’s a MicroSD card slot as well as WiFi. The entire thing weighs in at 15.6 oz with a thickness of .48-inches — that’s just 5.4 oz heavier and .12-inches thicker than the new Kindle.

The price is $249.99. That places it at half the price of the iPad, but over $100 more than the WiFi-only Kindle.

Dual SIM 3D Phone from Spice Mobile - India

India’s Spice Mobile has just launched the M-67 3D, which is a phone that has an auto-stereoscopic 3D display. What that means is that, you guessed right, you won’t need any glasses here either. Videos, images, and even the phone’s UI, all support 3D.

Other than the 3D display, the two other interesting features of the M-67 are the fact that it’s dual SIM and it has remote wipe capability.

This phone has only 2.4 inches 3D display diagonally (small) and has a resolution of only 240×320. The camera is 2 MP, there’s Bluetooth, but no Wi-Fi or 3G (for either SIM slot). The phone supports microSD cards up to 16 GB, has a dedicated key that will switch the display from 2D mode to 3D, an FM radio, 3.5 mm headset jack and MP3 player. M-67's price is Rupees 4,299 or approximately $97.

The Samsung W960 AMOLED 3D is a CDMA mobile. It has 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touch display with WQVGA resolution, 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, 3G support with HSPA, DMB-T TV tuner, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. It’s powered by the proprietary Samsung TouchWiz 2.0.

Daiwa House’ New Crawlspace Robot

Riding on the wave of robotic devices replacing human workers in high-stress or high-danger locations, Daiwa House Industry, a famous Japanese homebuilding company, announced a new crawlspace inspection robot to be pressed into service in April, 2011. The robot is called moogle (rhymes with goggle or mogul, not Google), weighs 13 kg (28.7 lbs) and measures 50x30x24 cm and is equipped with two cameras (a wide-angle CMOS camera for driving and a CCD camera for inspections), LED inspection lights in three levels of brightness, and four continuous-track crawlers – all of which can be controlled via wifi from a laptop placed in a less claustrophobic location. The third iteration of a joint project between the Chiba Institute of Technology, University of Tsukuba, and Mitsubishi Electric Tokki Systems that began in 2006, the moogle can clear obstacles under 15 cm high and crawl through spaces as small as 50cm wide and 30cm tall.

Chinese Vending Machine Sells Live Crabs

We have covered the one or the other obscure vending machine in the past, but this one’s a first: a vending machine that sells live crabs. This model is located in a subway station in Nanjing, China, and keeps the crabs at 5°C at all times. In other words, the crabs inside are alive, “hibernating” in a frozen state.

A sign in front of the machine promises 100% customer satisfaction: if buyers get a dead crab, the maker (a Chinese company based in Nanjing whose name I couldn’t decipher) promises they’ll get three crabs for free.

Each crab costs between $1.50 and $7.50, depending on the size. The machine’s producer says they currently sell around 100 crabs daily, resulting in about $500 sales.

HP Slate 500 Officially Launched

Hewlett-Packard officially launched its Windows 7-based tablet PC, HP Slate 500. This tablet comes with a 8.9-inch, 1024×600 resolution screen, a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor, a Crystal HD accelerator that should ensure smooth playback for HD (1080p) videos, two gigabytes of RAM (recent rumors predicted 1 GB), and a 64GB SSD.

It has a USB port and two cameras: a 3-megapixel one on the back, and a VGA camera on the front for making video calls. It also has Wi-Fi but, quite disappointingly, no 3G connectivity.

These specifications make the Slate one of the most powerful tablets on the market, but its $799 price tag also makes it more expensive than its chief rival, the iPad. However, HP has envisioned the Slate as a device aimed at business customers.

SelectaDNA Anti-Intruder Spray

SelectaDNA Anti-Intruder Spray is commercial burglary deterrent to criminals, and an ideal way for retail outlets, warehouses, schools and other premises to protect their valuable stock and assets.

SelectaDNA Anti-Intruder Spray can be linked to intruder alarm systems, or installed as a stand alone system activated by a panic button. Once triggered, SelectaDNA Anti-Intruder Spray will soak intruders in a solution containing a unique DNA code and UV tracer. Once sprayed, the solution is almost impossible to remove from clothing and skin, and cannot be transferred, and is invivisble to the naked eye.

The DNA fear-factor amongst criminals is high, which increases the likelihood of sprayed intruders fleeing the crime scene before stealing any goods.

The Police routinely scan for traces of SelectaDNA, and if found criminals are irrefutably linked to a crime scene

There Won't Be Any 7-inch iPad from Apple

After some rumors about the next iPad, finally Steve Jobs said that there won't be any 7-inch iPad.

Quoting Jobs:
This size isn't sufficient to create great tablet apps, in our opinion. While one could increase the resolution of the display to make up for some of the difference, it is meaningless unless your tablet also includes sandpaper, so that the user can sand down their fingers to around one quarter of their present size."

He said that Apple thinks that the 10-inch screen of the current iPad model is the minimum. That you cannot make a great tablet with a seven-inch screen because it cannot express the software.

Is Apple's Next-Generation MacBook Air Coming Next Week?

There are some alleged details about what Apple will announce sooon (this Wednesday?).

It seems that Apple will launch a new 13.3-inch MacBook Air and 11.6-inch MacBook Air. AppleInsider.com got a tip that a 11.6-inch MacBook Air will be coming with details as follows:
  • The 11.6-inch MacBook Air won't replace the 13.3-inch model, but will instead complement it as a more aggressively-priced option
  • Both the new 11.6- and 13.3-inch models sport matching outfits in the form of new, all-unibody designs and single button trackpads
  • The port door found on the existing MacBook Air is gone from the new designs, which feature a port layout similar to the existing MacBook Pros
  • The new "SSD card" storage is based off an SATA connection
  • The base component of both models is just slightly thicker than a standard USB port at its thickest point
Engadget has showed a prototype (from back in April) of the new 13.3-inch MacBook Air and is architecturally very close to what Apple plans to release next week alongside the new 11.6-inch model.

Television Meets Internet with Sony Google TV

Sony announced Sony Google TV in New york earlier today, it is a Sony Internet TV powered by Google TV.

The big difference between current connected HDTVs and Sony Google TV  is simultaneous Web surfing and TV watching, what Sony calls "Dual View." For instance, if you're watching Law & Order: SVU, you can search for details on the real live crime the story is based on while continuing to watch the episode. If you're watching a baseball game, you can check on fantasy league stats. The whole idea is to mimic and reduce watching TV with a laptop on your lap to a single screen.

    There are four models - 24-inch ($599), 32-inch ($799), 40-inch ($999) and 46-inch ($1,399). All are edge-lit LED LCD sets except the smallest, which is old-fashioned CFFL.

Rumour: iPhone 5 and iPad 2 with Baseband Chips from Qualcomm

    iPhone 4

Many people have not had a chance to own iPhone 4, now there is rumor that iphone 5 will come with Qualcomm baseband chip and the same chip is also for iPad 2.

While initially we were circumspect about the news it just seems that other independent sources from across the globe are reporting a similar merger. The Economic Daily News from Taipei in its latest report talks of the possible use of Qualcomm Baseband chips in the use of iPad 2; further increasing the suspicion that it might be the end for Infineon.

So will the successor of iPhone 4 has a dual SIM capability that will allow users to use both GSM and CDMA technology? Considering Qualcomm were the ones to pioneer the CDMA aspect in the mobile market it is something that is completely possible, but not very probable.

For now the opinion is that CDMA technology might still stay away from iPhone 5, but if indeed Apple and Qualcomm do tie up then it might be a possibility somewhere down the line. While we will have to wait for an official announcement from both parties to confirm the change in chips, opening up the iPad 2 when it does arrive will surely unravel many mysteries and help predict the details of iPhone 5.
